In 2023, Amanda Jenninger and her family embarked on an exciting journey of building their dream home in Tranås, Sweden. Central to their vision was creating a bright and airy space – even before buying the plot, Amanda knew she wanted a light wood floor.
Amanda’s vision for her new home was clear from the outset: a space bathed in light, with a sense of openness. The LARVIK 3.0 flooring in wide XXL-sized planks and the Powder White shade caught Amanda’s eye immediately, striking the right balance between warm and cool tones.
As the mother of two young children, Amanda had to consider more than just aesthetics. While the floor choice might have remained the same regardless, its durability became a major plus. “I wasn't disappointed when I realized the floor we loved was extremely water-resistant,” she says, acknowledging how essential that feature has been with two little ones up to mischief involving water. “In hindsight, it was a stroke of luck.”
Amanda describes her interior style in three words: Scandinavian, minimalist and light. The home is a testament to these principles, with a palette dominated by white and beige tones, save for a few contrasting black details in window frames and door handles. “It’s not the most optimal combination with a 2- and 4-year-old, but there’s no other way for me,” she laughs.
A content creator passionate about health and wellness, Amanda loves experimenting with recipes, so she spends a lot of time in the kitchen. She briefly considered concrete for this area but ultimately decided to go with her gut feeling and stick with wood throughout the house.
Although she opted for wood flooring, Amanda wasn’t familiar with hardened wood floors until a friend recommended Bjelin. The friend, who was renovating her own home, praised the durability and ease of installation of Bjelin’s products.
Amanda is particularly fond of the brushed surface of the LARVIK flooring, noting how it adds a modern, sleek feel to the home. When asked what advice she would give others choosing flooring, she suggests balancing intuition with research. “It’s tempting to skip reading up on everything when you’re building a house, but flooring is such a significant decision that you won’t change it easily. Look for inspiration on social media and view everything in person before deciding.”
Summing up her feelings about the new floor, Amanda finds it hard to choose a single word. “I want to say modern and tasteful, but that’s not a feeling,” she reflects. “But when I step into the hallway and see our light wood floor stretching 55-60 feet towards the living room windows, with the pine forest in the background, the feeling is simply unbeatable.”
